BRICK LIONS CLUB CELEBRATES 60 YEARS OF SERVICE
The Brick Lions Club celebrated its 60th year anniversary on November 12, 2008 at Woodlake Country Club by holding it's annual Charity Night Dinner. The Lions honored organizations that support the needs of the visually or hearing impaired and the youth of the community. The organizations being honored that evening include: Ocean County Volunteers for the Blind, the Katzenbach School for the Deaf, The Brick Dare Program, Canine Hearing Companions, and the New Jersey Eyeglass Recycling Center.Since the club's chartering in 1948, its members have worked on a variety of projects in the local community, such as eyeglass recycling and providing eye exams and glasses for the needy. Proceeds from past fundraising events have gone to providing scholarships to high school students in Brick Township and donations to local charitable organizations. The club recently held it's inaugural Harold Handchen Memorial Golf outing to raise funds for its scholarship program.According to Dan Noto, Club President, "We are proud of our club's 60 years of service to the Brick community. The Brick Lions club members thank everyone who contributes to this important work. You are truly helping Lions make a difference in our community."
